The Endangered Ark Foundation
The Endangered Ark Foundation is a private non-profit dedicated to ensuring the future of Asian elephants in North America, providing a retirement ranch for circus elephants, and educating the public about this endangered species.
Our Mission
We respect the intimate understanding of the bond and partnership formed between animals and humans, and the need for action to save endangered animals. We believe education and preservation efforts will ensure that people will be able to experience the joy and wonder of the Asian elephant for generations to come.
Our History
Since 1993, Endangered Ark Foundation has sought to preserve the extremely endangered Asian Elephant. After more than six decades of caring, working with, and living with their elephants and other animals, D.R. & Isla Miller and his family established the Endangered Ark Foundation.
Our Founders
The Foundation was established in 1993 by DR & Isla Miller to help preserve the endangered Asian elephant species. The Miller Family’s EAF elephant herd is one of the largest in the United States. Their herd consists of 16 Asian elephants in all, with 13 females and 3 males. They range in age from Cameron Lee, the youngest baby, who was born in 2020 to the matriarch of the herd Suzy, who is over 70 years old. According to current statistics there are between 35,000 and 45,000 Asian elephants on earth. As of 2000, there were only 285 captive elephants in North America and only approximately 35 of these are breeders.
Our Facility
The Endangered Ark Foundation consists of 2 main housing barns buildings. These barns serve as place to provide vet care, shelter from the elements and inclement weather, heated comfort in the winter months, and safety for our amazing herd.

Building #1 is the female barn. All but 3 of our 16 elephants are females, and most of them have been together the majority of their lives. There are expansions off of this facility for our special needs elephants to have the own space for therapy and other needed adjustments. There is also a special area for baby delivery that can provide seclusion for our expecting mothers.

Building # 2 is the male barn. It houses Tommy, a 20+ year old male, who has fathered the last 4 babies born at the Endangered Ark Foundation facility. Barn # 2 also houses Obert (named after the founder's father) born in 2003.
